Description

Fantastic country property in excellent condition, ideally suited for activities such as yoga, painting, writing, hiking, mountain biking or simply as a beautiful B&B.

The property has most recently been used for yoga retreats and, before that, for painting holidays. It is flexible enough to suit any number of activities and has a beautiful separate apartment for the owners.

Arranged around a courtyard and situated in a very tranquil area with easy access, the property is arranged as follows:

Yoga room/artist’s studio etc, with toilet and large walk-in cupboard for storing equipment.

Kitchen/lounge with open fireplace. This is where participants breakfasts have previously been served with options placed on the granite worktop. Participants help themselves and eat their breakfast in the lounge, outside in the courtyard, under the covered portico, by the pool etc. At a level slightly higher than the lounge there are glass cases at either end of the room housing the museum of items found during the extensive renovation by the previous owners with pots and jewellery from Roman to Mediaeval times.

Outside under the portico there are chairs and tables to relax whilst enjoying the views of the nearby hills. Below this area is the sculpture garden with seating under a pergola.

In the central courtyard there are four tables for eating al fresco or writing etc. The accommodation is loosely arranged around this courtyard in a U shape. On the left up a flight of stairs there are bedrooms and bathrooms, some of which look out to the hills behind, others look across the valley to more distant hills. All rooms have access to a broad terrace and many have double aspect. All are light and spacious. There is also a kitchenette and small lounge area.

Behind this wing there is a delightful chill-out area and, down some old stone steps, is the carpeted meditation room.

In the central wing there are more bedrooms and bathrooms with, again, access to a broad terrace with long views out across the courtyard with its bell-tower and another small kitchen with lounge area. At the courtyard level is the entrance to the treatment room (currently used as a study). Behind the central wing there are store rooms for linen, gardening equipment etc. and a laundry area. A local person visits the property to do the laundry and there is a maintenance person who is happy to continue working on an as needed basis.

On the right hand side of the U there are downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms and, upstairs the owner’s spacious apartment, consisting of lounge with wood-burner and balcony, kitchen with maple wood units, bathroom and a large bedroom with maple wood furnishings. All rooms have access to the broad terraces outside providing a light and open feel and, like the bedrooms in the other wings, either have their own bathroom or share a bathroom between two rooms. There is scope to increase the number of bathrooms.

Outside there is a delightful swimming pool 12m x 4m with a paddling pool, plenty of covered seating, space for loungers and a delightful Balinese style bamboo house. Behind this is a large day bed with views across the valley. There is a toilet for poolside use and a store room for cushions etc.

At one level above this is the outside yoga/exercise area, a covered pergola with table and chairs and hammocks for siesta time. This leads across to the feature circular casita. As well as a long table for sharing meals there is a barbecue, outside kitchen and pizza oven. This casita is open to the elements on all sides with delightful views but there are also theorem curtains which can be closed in winter to provide a cosy outdoor space with log-burner. In the main part of the house, close to the casita, is another kitchen for preparing meals.

Above this level is a stone floored era (threshing circle) ringed by cypress trees which was almost certainly and outdoor olive press. The bottom stones are still embedded in the ground and the top milling stones are positioned upright as decorative pieces. This area leads to the garage.

Down the track and out of the way is the workshop and a parking area for cars, off of which there is a large store room for excess furniture etc.

All around are olive groves. There are no near neighbours and access from the road is by a fast 1.8 kms track which takes less than 5 minutes. The nearest village is 7 minutes away. The historic city of Granada can be reached in an hour and Córdoba in 90 minutes.

Mains electricity and water are connected and the property enjoys irrigation water rights from an acequia.

This is an exceptional property, full of charm, in a wonderful position and although isolated from other properties,  is easily accesible. It is sold as is, ready to operate with the exception of the owners’ personal possessions etc.
